Importance of Big Toe Mobility

✳️The big toe (referred to as The Great Toe) is basically the steering wheel of the body and must be properly aligned with the other structures to ensure proper locomotion. The big toe helps control balance and can affect the way we walk, run and move because the great toe stabilizes the arch during the mid-stance and take off phase of the gait cycle.


Without sufficient big toe function, the foot is forced to compensate with overpronation ( rolling inward). This results in flat feet which is the biggest culprit of plantar fasciitis.
